FICTIONAL SAMPLE · FOR ILLUSTRATION
A report your team
can use to discuss
what comes next.
This invented example shows the kind of buying brief, uncertainty and next check an assessment can organize. It is not a real customer report, a result or a promise of what your answers will establish.
Weekly campaign workflow
Illustrative company: an image-and-video creation tool.
Illustrative respondent: its founder.
01 / THE BUYING BRIEF
Who is buying,
and what are they buying?
- Customer
- A small online retailer responsible for a weekly product campaign.
- Situation
- A new product needs suitable images, copy and short video for its store and social channels.
- Problem and consequence
- The retailer moves between tools, repeats brand adjustments and reworks formats before it can publish.
- Desired benefit
- A coherent, publish-ready campaign set that fits the retailer's existing workflow.
- Current alternative
- Separate design and writing tools, templates and manual resizing.
- Candidate buying reason
- Prepare one weekly campaign from product input to an approved set of assets with fewer handoffs.
“Our frequent users save brand settings and produce several formats for the same product.”
This is invented source text, not verified customer evidence. The buying reason above is an interpretation to investigate.
02 / EVIDENCE & UNCERTAINTY
A plausible explanation
with important gaps.
Candidate: a specific campaign-workflow benefit may be clearer than a general promise to generate more images.
Alternative: customers may understand the benefit but struggle with brand consistency, setup or the product's output. More promotion would not establish that these problems are resolved.
Unknown: how often this situation occurs, who pays, how much rework is actually reduced, whether buyers value it enough to switch, and whether other retailers behave similarly.
What would weaken the candidate: recent buyers chose the tool mainly for a different use, or the workflow repeatedly requires substantial outside work.
A founder's account can nominate a question. It cannot establish customer motivation, market size or a causal growth constraint.
03 / ONE BOUNDED NEXT CHECK
Reconstruct the last
real campaign.
With permission, compare a successful customer and a customer whose first campaign stalled. Ask each to walk through its latest actual campaign from product input to publishing.
- What triggered the work, and who decided how to do it?
- Which tools and steps were involved?
- Where did waiting, rework or outside help occur?
- What useful result was completed, and what remained unfinished?
Agree the decision owner, permitted records, observation period, resource cap and stopping condition before starting. Record what would support, weaken or leave each explanation unresolved.
This example can inform a next investigation. It does not prove a winner or justify increasing advertising spend.
04 / QUESTIONS FOR THE TEAM
Decide what to learn
before what to build.
- Does this describe a buyer situation we actually observe?
- Which statement do we have direct evidence for?
- What finding would change our next marketing decision?
- Can the current product reliably deliver the promised workflow?
A real report also preserves the complete 30-answer record and optional notes, with source-linked context. What it can conclude depends on those answers. Further research is optional and separately agreed. You can review the service options or book a 20-minute report discussion.
